CollectA Arabian

Long time no posts. Have been busy with the new pup who is now called Barnaby (though it changes every week) and I also have been reorganising my studio. Everything has a new place, its a little confusing but will make life easier in the long run.

One of the things I have been working on is a CollectA model. He is made of different softer plastic then Breyers, which I'm finding harder to work with. I used my dremel to remove the logo from his belly, it was tricky... dremels like to eat soft plastic.

So most of it was hand sanded with wet 400 sand paper. Please excuse the orange sharpie thats for highlighting the areas that need work. I was thinking bay rabicano for his clothes... or maybe liver chestnut.

Jump Around

I just realised that I never posted a photo of the model that I rushed to finish before High Desert Live. He was my once dapple grey hunter that broke on his trip across the world. He is now a proud blonde palomino and won 1st place in his breed class.

I've also turned my blog into a website, thanks to Clare from meadowview artistry. Before she posted her wonderful site I didn't know you could do pages in blogger! Thanks Clare.

Puppy

There is a new member of the family, a little Terrier mix we just got from a local rescue. He loves Lily and Lily loves him, couldn't ask for a better puppy. So far he is nameless (he just gets called puppy) naming dogs is so hard. Hopefully soon we will find the perfect name or he will be 10 years old and still be called puppy!

High Desert Live

Silly me forgot to charge my camera the night before the show. With the little battery power I had left, I decided to save it incase something awesome happened...which it did!

My little polo pony, customised and painted by me won reserve champion in sport breed customs. He also got second in his workmanship class. Then he when up for the call backs, which he got a ribbon for honorable mention.

Overall my customs did amazing! With four 1st places, one 2nd, 3rd and three 4th places in some tough competition. Winning 5 NAN cards I'm very happy, it's good to know that my painting skills are good enough to win placings.

My original finish models did well too, with my classic swaps winning champion in sports breed. I picked up 6 NAN cards for all my OF's. It was a great show and I'm more then happy with my ponies.

Finished!

Oh my word, I finally finished my appaloosa sports horse! Can you believe I started her in February 2012, nearly two years ago. So glad and I also managed to complete my little Wee Dini. Hard to capture his true colour, his undertones are a little lighter in real life. The whole reason in getting my butt into gear is because there is a live show this weekend. So I've been madly painting to get things done, still one more to finish. Fingers cross he gets done on time!

Pushing forwards

A sad start to the new year, Bobo dog you are missed. The house is so lonely with my husband at work and Lily in the yard most of the day. But I know you are in a better place eating all the tuna you can (tuna was his favourite).

I have been working my butt off in the studio, working on getting past my hang ups. When something got to hard or I really liked some thing I would stop working on it so I wouldn't stuff it up. Well that got me nowhere really fast, I have to remember that I'm still new to this and I'm going to make mistakes. So here's to the new year of taking risks, believing in your self and pushing onwards!

Foal finished!

Hard to capture his red undertones.

Really pushing myself on this girl.

Bo

Bobo
1998 - January 2014
May you rest in peace.

Bo you were my husbands best friend for 15 years, thank you for looking after him. You also looked after me when I was in need. You were so loving just like a teddy bear,
we will miss you so very much.
